ResearchRabbit
ResearchRabbit, from ResearchRabbit. Mapping a field from a few seed papers and finding what you missed.
What it does well
- Starting from three papers you trust and finding earlier, later and similar work
- Seeing clusters of authors and how a debate developed
- Getting alerts when new papers cite your collection
What it does poorly
- Answering questions: it finds papers, it doesn't summarize them
- Fields with sparse citation data
What makes it different
A visual citation map rather than a chat. Nothing is generated, so nothing is hallucinated.
Quick start
- Create a collection and add two or three papers central to your topic.
- Open “Similar work” and “Later work”, and add anything relevant.
- Switch to the network view to see clusters and gaps.
- Export the collection to Zotero.
Strengths and limits
- Strength: No hallucination risk
- Strength: Finds papers keyword search misses
- Strength: Zotero integration
- Limit: Only as good as your seed papers
- Limit: The graph gets busy fast
- Limit: Citation data lags for new papers
Privacy
Low risk: you're organizing published papers.
Academic integrity
No concerns beyond normal citation practice.
